Our Methodology

How questions and explanations are created

Every practice question and explanation in MyScorePrep is written in-house by our team. We don't copy or repurpose official College Board material — questions are original and modeled on the skills, question types, and difficulty patterns of the Digital SAT.

Explanations are drafted to show the reasoning path to the correct answer, not just the answer itself, and are reviewed for accuracy before publishing. If you spot an error, you can report it directly from the explanation screen inside the app, and our team reviews reported issues.

How difficulty tiers are assigned

Each question is tagged with a difficulty tier (easier, medium, or harder) based on the skill it tests and how many reasoning steps or distractor traps it involves. These tiers are used to build practice sets and to power adaptive routing in full-length tests.

How adaptive test routing works

Our full-length practice tests follow the same two-stage structure as the Digital SAT: each subject has two modules. Your accuracy on Module 1 determines which difficulty pool Module 2 draws from — a stronger Module 1 performance routes you into a harder Module 2, and a weaker performance routes you into an easier one.

Your combined performance across both modules is converted into an estimated scaled score on the familiar 400–1600 range, split across the two sections.

How flashcard scheduling works

Flashcards use a spaced-repetition algorithm based on the SM-2 method. When you rate how well you knew a card, the app adjusts an easiness factor and schedules the next review interval — cards you find easy are shown less often, and cards you struggle with come back sooner. Your review schedule is saved to your account so it persists across sessions.

How score estimates are produced — and their limits

Score estimates are calculated from your accuracy and the difficulty of the questions you answered, mapped to an approximate 400–1600 scale. This is our own estimate, not an official College Board score, and it is not produced by or affiliated with College Board.

Treat estimates as a directional signal of progress, not a guarantee of your actual test-day score. Small samples of questions, test anxiety, timing differences, and day-to-day variation can all cause real scores to differ from an estimate.

How we handle reported errors

When you report a problem with a question or explanation from inside the app, it's logged for our team to review. We prioritize fixing confirmed errors and use reports to improve future content.
